Custom zinc alloy metal buttons — snap buttons and sew-on buttons for garments, denim and bags

Custom Metal Buttons

Custom Metal Buttons — Snap Buttons & Sew-On Buttons, Built to Your Design

A metal button does two jobs at once: it closes the garment or bag, and it puts your brand at one of the most-handled points on the product. Metal buttons come in two families — snap buttons, which close by pressing a spring structure together, and sew-on buttons, which are stitched on through a rear shank or sewing holes. As a direct OEM manufacturer, Hongfeng produces both types fully custom in zinc alloy and combination materials, built to your cap design, fabric and closure rather than picked from a stock tray.

Overview

Custom Metal Buttons

Every project starts from your artwork, sample or reference and is confirmed before mold development, so the cap face, finish, structure and fastening all match your product. We support custom molds for unique cap shapes, project-based MOQ discussion for new programs, and matched button sets so jackets, shirts and bags across one collection share the same face and finish. Typical applications include denim, jackets, outerwear, workwear, shirts and knitwear, as well as bags, wallets and leather goods.

The two families are more different than they look. A snap button is a matched set — cap, socket, stud and post — where the spring type sets the closing feel and the post length has to suit the fabric thickness, or it either will not clinch or crushes the cloth. A sew-on button is judged by its shank or hole structure and how the thread sits under repeated pull. In both cases the cap carries the brand: engraved, embossed or debossed logos, enamel and resin color faces, serrated or smooth edges, even rhinestone-set decoration. We help you choose the right family for the closure, then size the structure to the material.

Whether you need a logo snap for denim, a smooth-enamel sew-on button for knitwear, or a rhinestone decorative button for a fashion line, we can tool, plate and finish it to a production-ready standard and keep it consistent at scale. FAQ

Common Questions

From Our Insights

Not sure whether your closure needs a snap button or a sew-on button? Our guide compares rear shanks, spring structures, panel thickness and mating components.

Read the Guide

Should I choose a snap button or a sew-on button?

It depends on the closure. A snap suits parts that open and close by hand all day — denim, jackets, bags. A sew-on button suits tailored closures and decorative placements where a buttonhole or stitched fixing is wanted. Tell us the garment and fabric and we will recommend the right family before sampling.

Can you put our logo on the button cap?

Yes — engraved, embossed or debossed, with enamel color where the recess can hold it. We keep the logo shallow enough not to fight the cap's curve and flag any detail too fine to cast at your cap size. Send vector artwork for the cleanest result.

Do snap buttons come as a complete set?

Yes. Cap, socket, stud and post are matched as one set, with the spring type and post length chosen for your fabric thickness so the snap clinches properly and keeps its grip through repeated use.

Will the finish survive washing and daily wear?

Plating is selected for how the button is used and washed, and nickel-free or other testing requirements can be discussed per project. For a critical color, we recommend approving a finish sample before bulk.

What is the MOQ and sampling process?

MOQ depends on whether a new mold is required, the finish, structure and quantity. If an existing mold can be adapted, the discussion is usually simpler; for new shapes, mold development is confirmed first.
